missionS trips
We believe that it is essential for Westerners to learn about people from around the globe. Not to exploit or change, but to observe and learn from people that are not the same. Our Hope and vision is to invite others into a network of community experiencing the love of Jesus.
You’re invited to join us as we experience the vibrancy, connection, and love in Uganda.
FAQs
Q. What does ‘medical mission’ mean? What does the mission team do?
Every trip the Ray of Hope Mission Team returns to the Hope Centre and stays on the property. The purpose of the team is to show the Love of Christ to everyone we come into contact with. Holding the hand of a mother in labor, playing football (soccer) with the local boys, or crafts with the children. Visiting the homes and farms around the Hope Centre.
q. Do I have to be a medical professional to go on a mission trip?
No, as a matter of fact, even the medical professionals that do go on the trip don’t perform procedures. The Hope Centre has a staff of very competent midwives. The Birthplace has an average of 1.5 babies born each day, antenatal visits three times a week, and opportunities to mentor the staff. But the bulk of the efforts of the team are developing the whole village.
q. Do I have to be a ‘born again’, Christian or a certain denomination to go on the trip?
No, The purpose of the mission trips is to show the Love of Christ to others, and that means to our team members even ourselves. Each team member is expected to participate in team activities which will include prayer, reading of the bible and team time. And, it is our stated goal to encourage everyone to honestly seek a deeper relationship or understanding of Jesus Christ’s Love. We believe that exposing Ugandans & Westerners to each other benefits both communities. It teaches two groups of humans who live radically differently that we are all just people who have different things to teach each other.
Two, we believe that this fusion of cultures is a tender opportunity for growth and development for all - both spiritually and culturally.
When you join us for a trip you are free to participate in and observe any Hope for Others programs, explore the 11-acre property, or offer support and service wherever needed.
It is a time for you to reflect, learn, and grow as you encounter and learn from the Ugandan culture and community.
