the things of ray of hope

Things that make our experience in Uganda culturally unique.

  • WATER COLLECTION

All the water at the Hope Centre is collected rain water. The water is stored in two in-ground cisterns. From there the water is moved by two solar power pumps to two elevated water tanks.

  • solar panels

The Hope Centre has a modern solar system. The Centre is completely off grid and collects, stores and distributes all the electrical needs for the campus.

  • Water Filtration

All the water at the Centre is filtered in house by a water filtration system. The system is comprised of four filters that uses the same technology as blood dialysis machines.

shillings

Shillings are the currency that is used in Uganda. The current exchange rate is 3,650 Ugandan schillings per 1 U.S. dollar. A bottle of soda costs about 1,000 shillings and a average day labor earns approximately 15,000 shillings for a days work.
